Xi, Putin vow to push ties to ‘new phase’

★Putin will oversee the signing of a number of "important agreements" in trade and energy, the Kremlin said without providing further details.

★Putin will attend the opening ceremony of "Maritime Cooperation 2014" along with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

★Putin will take part in the fourth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia scheduled to be held in Shanghai.

The statement calls on all local and sociopolitical groups in Ukraine to participate in a comprehensive national dialogue, and jointly develop a concept for the future constitutional development of the country, in an effort to fully protect the citizens' basic rights and freedom.

Military strength in total: A total of 14 vessels, two submarines, nine fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters and special forces from both countries will take part in the exercise, a Chinese navy spokesman said in Beijing on May 13.
