Chang'an Suzuki, a joint venture between Chang'an Motors and Suzuki Motors, will build its second factory in Ba'nan district, also in Chongqing Municipality. The project will be launched this year, according to a report from Jinghua Times on Thursday.
The first phase of the project, with a total investment of five billion yuan ($0.77 billion), will produce 150,000 complete vehicles and engines. The project will be finished by 2013 and will have an annual capacity of 250,000 vehicles and 300,000 engines.
The entire project will be completed in 2015.
The current production base of the company in Chongqing, with a production capacity of only 200,000 vehicles a year, cannot satisfy the growing market demand for Chang'an Suzuki vehicles, said the report.
