Last year, Chinese tourists contributed $877 million to New York City's economy, with the average spending of $3,297 per tourist per trip, the New York Convention and Visitors Bureau announced at a tourism promotion conference in Shanghai on Monday.
Chinese mainland and Hong Kong tourists to New York had an average age of 38 years, staying 11.3 nights with an average daily expenditure of $292, according to a previous survey.
Last year 266,000 tourists from the mainland and Hong Kong visited New York, with the number of those from the mainland far surpassing that from Hong Kong.
