The number of mobile Internet users in China reached 431 million as of the end of 2011, and total revenue was 86.22 billion yuan ($13.69 billion), according to the statistics released by consulting firm Analysys International Tuesday.
Mobile Internet market revenue totaled 25.18 billion yuan in the fourth quarter of 2011, a 6.20 percent increase on the third quarter, while the number of users grew 8.60 percent.
While total sales of cellphones decreased in the fourth quarter of 2011, sales of smart phones maintained growth of 16.77 percent. Growth of user numbers was maintained in large part to usage of mobile services such as microblogs, the report said.
