Insulted thief detained
Chaoyang police detained a man who stole watches worth over 1.6 million yuan ($250,000) to revenge alleged discrimination from the shop-owner, surnamed Sun, according to the Beijing Times.
Yang, 32, wanted to buy a famous brand watch in January to show off to his relatives in Anhui Province during the Spring Festival vacation.
In Sun's Panjiayuan store, as Yang hesitated while making his decision, Sun teased him, saying "apparently, you can't afford it." Yang was angry and returned the next day to steal the watches, which police have now recovered.
Police nail love cheat
Chaoyang police detained a man for fraud, after he lied about his marital and employment status to pick up women, said the Beijing Evening News.
The man, surnamed Wang, 27, is married with a son, and made only 1,000 yuan a month. He boasted to girls online that he was a government official and single. One of his dates, surnamed Jin, became suspicious, and after discovering he had lied, she reported him to police.
10,000 early birds
Over 10,000 common cranes arrived on Monday in Widgeon Lake National Wetland Park, Yanqing County, much earlier than usual, according to the Beijing Evening News.
Li Li, from the Wildlife Conservation Society, said this is the earliest time the migratory birds have arrived in years. The cranes will stay for around two months before heading north. Li said they expect over 100 species of birds will arrive over the next month.
