Leakage of oil from a pipeline in La Union province in northwest Philippines has caused oil spill, local media reported on Wednesday.

The oil flowed out from Pier 1 that connects to an oil storage facility owned by Chevron in Poro village in San Fernando City.

Authorities have yet to determine the amount of oil that spilled into the sea.

Local environmental authorities have set up spill booms to contain the oil, which poses threats to marine life.
