The Philippine government welcomed on Wednesday the early arraignment of former president and incumbent congresswoman Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Thursday.
Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda said that with Arroyo's arraignment before the Pasay City Regional Trial Court, her election sabotage case will start to move on.
"If she's arraigned, that's good, so that the trial could start and there will be no more postponement on the arraignment of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo," he said in a news briefing.
The National Capital Region Police Office has been preparing necessary security that will be provided to the former president when she appears before the Pasay City Regional Trial Court Tuesday morning.
Arroyo, who is detained at the Veterans' Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City, will be transported to Pasay City court to attend the arraignment.
