The Indonesian government is ready to increase fuel subsidy as the price of the world's crude oil has reached 120 US dollars per barrel, the country's largest news portal detik.com quoted a minister as saying here on Wednesday.
"We are ready to cut state spending from the budget to increase fuel subsidy," said Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo.
He added that the government is monitoring the price that keeps moving higher.
He said that if the government sees anything "unhealthy" in April, it will propose to revise state budget.
According to Martowardojo, spending cut will be taken after considering its impact on economic growth and state budget deficit in 2012.
