A series of attacks hit the restive Iraqi capital of Baghdad early Thursday, killing at least 10 people and injuring nearly 30 others.
A police source on condition of anonymity told Xinhua that two car bombings took place in the city's crowded business district of Karada, killing at least two people and injuring 17 others.
The car bomb explosions, during rush hour, shook buildings and windows several blocks away.
In a separate incident in the city center, gunmen launched an attack on a police checkpoint in Sarafiyah, killing six people and injuring three others, said the police source.
He said two roadside bombings took place in the city's southwestern district of Saidiyah, leaving two people dead and nine others injured.
