A sinkhole swallowed a minibus Thursday morning in the city of Guilin in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, injuring the vehicle's driver, local traffic officers said.

The 7-meter-deep sinkhole opened up at about 5:20 am on Fuxing Road in the city's Qixing district, engulfing the minibus, an officer from the city's traffic management department said.

The driver, the only person in the vehicle, was pulled out of the minibus and rushed to the hospital, the officer said. The extent of the driver's injuries is not yet known.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
