The Authority for Info- communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) in collaboration with E-Government National Centre (EGNC) and Information Technology Protective Security Services (ITPSS) as Brunei Computer Emergency Response Team (BruCert) will be organizing a four-day event entitled Cyber Security Awareness Week 2013 on Nov. 9, the government sources said Wednesday.

The theme of the event is"Promoting Cybersecurity & the Effective Use of Social Media". One of the main objectives of the event is to promote and raise awareness on the importance of being aware and secure while doing activities on the internet in the country.

Brunei National Computer Emergency Response Team (BruCERT) was established in May 2004. It was formed in collaboration with AITI and the Ministry of Communication to become the nation's first trusted one-stop referral agency in dealing with computer-related and internet-related security incidents in Brunei Darussalam.

BruCERT will coordinate with local and international CSIRTs, network service providers, security vendors, government agencies as well as other related organizations to facilitate the detection, analysis and prevention of security incidents on the Internet.

AITI was established on Jan. 1 2003 by the AITI Order 2001 to function as ICT & telecommunication industry regulator, national radio-frequency spectrum manager and developer of Brunei Darussalam's ICT industry.
