Cambodia will renew the celebrations of the second Sea Festival early next month after it was called off last year due to the death of the most revered King Father Norodom Sihanouk, Tourism Minister Thong Khon said Thursday.
"The event will be held on December 6-8 in coastal Kep province with a number of sports and entertainment events," he said at a news conference. "The celebrations aim to promote the potential tourism of the coastline after it was registered as the member of the Club of the Most Beautiful Bays in the world in May, 2011."
Vath Chamroeun, secretary general of the National Olympic Committee, said three types of sports will be played at the event, including a 5-km fun run, Triathlon and aqua-bike racing.
Besides, there will be a variety of entertainment activities including traditional martial arts, concert, fashion show, Khmer traditional kick-boxing, food festival, and tourism product show.
The festival will be co-organized by the Ministry of Tourism in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, the National Olympic Committee, Kep provincial authorities and tourism- related business operators.
Kep is located about 174 kilometers south of the Cambodian capital.
