Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to pay a visit to China in May as his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping has promised to attend the opening ceremony of the Sochi Winter Olympic Games on February 7, Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov said on Tuesday.
President Putin is planning to pay a visit to China in May, said Denisov, but the visit hasn't been settled down finally. The ambassador said the prime ministers of the two countries will hold a regular meeting in fall as scheduled.
"The comprehensive strategic cooperation relations between China and Russia are equal, close and of mutual trust," Denisov told reporters at a press conference in Beijing.
Denisov said that the frequent high-level visits have been a major character of bilateral relations, noting that President Xi and Putin met for five times on different occasions in 2013.
As a guest to Sochi, President Xi's visit to Russia will also be an official state visit, according to Denisov.
