Overseas returnees bolster Zhejiang

Zhejiang now has 30,008 enterprises invested in by returned overseas Chinese, with a total investment of $170.8 billion.

The amount accounts for 65 percent of overseas businesses in the province, and 60 percent of foreign investment.

Overseas Chinese from Zhejiang who have returned have personal fortunes totaling $700 billion, Wu Jing, chairman of the Zhejiang Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, said.

Since the reform and opening up of China in 1978, both returned and non-returned overseas Zhejiang Chinese have donated more than 10 billion yuan ($1.54 billion) to charity in the province.
