Hu to visit Russia this month

President Hu Jintao will pay a state visit to Russia from June 14 to 18 to attend the annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and first meeting of BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) leaders in Yekaterinburg.

The SCO summit is the ninth of its kind. The regional organization was founded in 2001 in Shanghai and includes China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The first meeting of BRIC leaders, scheduled for Tuesday, will cover a wide range of issues including the world situation, a global financial system, the financial crisis, energy cooperation and environmental protection.
