Life for Vietnamese trafficker

A Vietnamese woman was jailed for life Monday after being found guilty of drug trafficking at a court in Kunming, Yunnan Province, the Xinhua News Agency reported yesterday.

Pham Hoang Diem Chinn was detained at Kunming International Airport on November 30, after disembarking from a flight from Hanoi. She was found to be carrying 703 grams of heroin in a suitcase, the Kunming Intermediate People’s Court heard.

The 34-year-old was given a life sentence and fined 20,000 yuan ($2,900).

The woman denied all charges and said she would appeal the verdict at a higher court.
