Kids arrive in Sichuan

Nineteen high school students from Chiayi county, Taiwan Province, arrived in Sichuan Province Saturday for a six-day visit sponsored by Air China.

The youngsters were chosen for the trip as they had performed well in their studies despite coming from poor families, Zhang Yun, chief manager of the airline’s Taiwan office, said.

They will visit Mountain Emei and a panda reserve in Ya’an, he said.

In April, the company paid for 107 primary students from Chiayi to go and see giant pandas at a zoo in Taipei.
