Collision kills 8

At least eight people were killed and 28 others injured after two vehicles collided in Northwest China's Qinghai Province on Saturday, traffic authorities said Sunday.

The noon accident occurred after a truck rear-ended a passenger bus along the No. 109 national highway. The bus overturned, leaving seven dead at the scene and 29 others injured.

One of the victims died on the way to the hospital.

Seven people received serious injuries but were in stable condition after emergency treatment, said Sui Tian'en, a doctor with the Affiliated Hospital of Qinghai University.

The provincial traffic authorities were investigating the accident.
