12 die fighting fires

Rescuers Sunday found the bodies of 12 people who disappeared while they tried to help put out a forest fire in Southwest China's Yunnan Province, the provincial fire department said.

Wan Yong, deputy commander of the Yunnan Forest Fire Headquarters, said the dead were villagers from Cuiyu township, Lijiang, who helped fight the fire after it began at 1:10 pm Saturday.
