Jordan on Thursday underlined the need of continued Russia-US coordination to address the situation in Syria, the state-run Petra news agency reported.
At a meeting between King Abdullah II of Jordan in Amman and visiting Russian envoy for the Middle East and North Africa, Mikhail Bogdanov, the two sides discussed means to end the suffering of the Syrian people and preserve the unity and the territorial integrity of Syria, Petra said.
During the talks, the two sides stressed the need to intensify the cooperation between Russia and the United States to reach a political solution to the Syria crisis, the report said.
Discussions also focused on international efforts to fight terrorism and radical groups.
The Russian official voiced his country's appreciation of Jordan's support to Syrian refugees and its humanitarian efforts in dealing with the Syria crisis.
He stressed Russia's support to all the efforts to create a suitable environment for the refugees to return to their homes.
Jordan now hosts some 1.3 million Syrian refugees.
Also on Thursday, Prime Minister Hani Mulki met with the Russian official, saying that the key to ending the Syria crisis is a political solution rather than a military one.
