China's Zhou Xia caused one of the biggest upsets of the Rio Paralympics athletics competition by beating Australian world record holder Isis Holt in the women's 100m T35 final here on Wednesday.

The 17-year-old crossed the line in 13.66 seconds to edge out Holt by nine hundredths of a second at the Olympic Stadium. Britain's Maria Lyle took bronze in 14.41.

"I wasn't expecting to win so I am really happy. I was just hoping to finish in the top three," Zhou told the Paralympic News Service.

Zhou indicated she will get even better now that she is able to dedicate more time to her preparation.

"I've finished school so now I can put all my focus on training," she said.
