Myanmar's State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi said on Friday that Myanmar wants to be friends with all countries in the world, including China and Japan.

"We want to be friends with all our neighbors and countries all over the world," she told a news conference at the Japan National Press Club.

"Our relationship with China is very good and we hope it will get better," she said.

When asked about the recent violence in Myanmar's Rakhine state, she said that investigations were underway and the government was trying to get to the root of the matter, and would not accuse anyone until the probe was completed.

Any action would be taken in accordance with due legal process, she added.

Suu Kyi is in Japan on a five-day visit from Tuesday. It was her first trip to Japan since her National League for Democracy assumed power in April.
