The Saudi cabinet approved on Monday the hiring of Bangladeshi domestic workers as part of an agreement between the two states, Saudi Press Agency reported.
The decision will address the shortage of domestic workers in Saudi Arabia after the ban of some nationalities to fill such posts.
The ban was imposed by Saudi Arabia and other countries that have been demanding more rights for their citizens. Some of the demands are higher salaries, days off and fixed working hours.
Similar to all Gulf countries, Saudi families are fully dependent on domestic workers, mainly maids, while the demands for drivers here are higher than other regional states because of the driving ban on women.
