Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif Tuesday assured Chinese investors at the Iran-China Business Forum in Beijing that his country provides a "safe environment" for China's Belt and Road initiative.

Zarif told the forum that both the Iranian officials and private sectors have been encouraged to do all they can to "facilitate easier conditions for trade and investment" between the two countries under the "strategic" initiative.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani expressed concerns that Iran has been unable to attract huge foreign investment after a 10-year extension of sanctions against Iran by the US.

Mohsen Mesbah, an Iranian business consultant at the forum, told the Global Times that Iran now has all the elements available and ready for doing good business with China.

Zarif Monday met Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli who pledged to cement substantial cooperation, Xinhua reported.

Wang Yi, Zarif's Chinese counterpart, called Iran an important country along the Belt and Road and said China expects more progress in bilateral cooperation in economy, trade and infrastructure building.

Zarif said he appreciated China's efforts, saying that Iran expects the nuclear deal to be fulfilled without disruption, said Xinhua.
