An official in North China's Hebei Province was sacked for "posting wrong remarks on Sina Weibo" and "serious violation of political discipline."

Zuo Chunhe was removed on Monday from his post as the deputy director of the Shijiazhuang Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film, TV, Press and Publication, according to a statement posted on the bureau's Weibo account.

Zuo was also given a major administrative warning and was demanded to deeply reflect on his mistakes, said the statement. His Weibo account has been deleted as of press time on Monday.

According to screen shots of his previous Weibo posts, Zuo called former Chairman Mao Zedong a "devil" and dubbed the annual commemoration of Mao's birthday "the world's largest cult activity."

Zuo also mocked Chinese government's efforts to boycott Western values.
