A woman surnamed Zhang lodged a complaint with SF-Express, claiming that one of its couriers illegally opened her parcel, the Beijing Morning Post reported.
The courier said the package contained a knife, so he had to open it and take a picture to check whether it was suitable for transportation.
However, Zhang said the package arrived four days late and that she had already consulted SF-Express on whether she could mail the knife using their service.
She said the courier was using the knife as an excuse to avoid a late fine.
The company said it would investigate the matter.
