Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak arrived in India Thursday on a five-day state visit.

Najib began his trip in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu's capital Chennai, where he is slated to have talks with state Governor C. Vidyasagar Rao and Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

"Just arrived in Chennai to begin my official visit to India. Feeling at home here," the Malaysian prime minister tweeted, after his flight landed at Chennai International Airport around 3 p.m. (local time).

He will fly to the Indian capital Friday. Najib will call on Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari and hold talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday on a range of issues, particularly focusing on enhancing business ties, sources said.

Welcoming his Malaysian counterpart to India, Modi tweeted Wednesday: "India is delighted to welcome you, Prime Minister. Your visit will further boost India-Malaysia ties."

Najib will Monday attend a trade fair in Delhi, organised by the Malaysia-India Business Council Business Forum and 7th Global Science and Innovation Advisory Council Meeting, before wrapping up his tour Tuesday.
