"Open Door to Art," a summer art education festival by Beijing's Forbidden City Concert Hall (FCCH), will kick off on July 2, the festival's manager Xu Jian announced at a press conference for the event in Beijing on Wednesday.

The annual summer art festival aims to provide affordable performances as well as art education summer camps to young children.

It will stage 70 performances as well as 10 special summer camps and 10 art master classes until it wraps up on August 31. According to Xu, tickets for the performances will cost between 20 to 100 yuan ($3-15) just like previous years.

The Beijing Symphony Orchestra, led by conductor Tan Lihua, will open the festival by performing Western classics including G'schichten aus dem Wienerwald, Walzer op.325, as well as Chinese folk songs such as "Dance Song of the Yao People."

Tan remarked that each year he looks forward to performing for the children attending the event, many of whom have grown up with the 23-year-old festival.
