Air China

Air China Ltd said on Wednesday that it has been selected as the "Official Passenger Air Transportation Services Partner" for the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Song Zhiyong, president of Air China Ltd, said at a recent press conference that Air China will bring its own strengths into play and mobilize its resources to spread Olympic values during the event.

Air China is the country's largest airline and exclusive national flag carrier. It had previously been selected as the official partner for the Beijing Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games back in 2008. Its network covers 176 destinations across 41 countries and regions. These numbers extend to 1,330 destinations across 192 countries and regions with the help of Star Alliance.

American Airlines

American Airlines (AA) announced on Tuesday that it has won approval to launch a new daily non-stop service from Los Angeles to Beijing. This is AA's eighth direct non-stop flight between China and the US.

AA will be the first US carrier to operate the route. The service will begin on November 5, 2017 from Los Angeles and will operate with a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. In March 2018, AA will upgrade the aircraft to the larger Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which comes with a total of 285 seats.

Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific Group said on Monday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Airbus for 32 A321neo single-aisle aircraft.

The aircraft will be operated by Cathay Dragon, the regional carrier of the group, for services linking its Hong Kong home base with destinations across Asia. The new A321neo aircraft will replace Cathay Dragon's current in-service fleet of 15 A320s and eight A321s.

The additional aircraft will allow the airline to grab growth opportunities in the region as well as to modernize its services. The Cathay Dragon network currently covers 56 Asian destinations, including 28 in the Chinese mainland.
