Wet market pick-pocket gang caught in Pudong

A criminal gang that stole 5,000 yuan ($765.27) from a wet market customer were brought to justice, Xinmin Evening News reported Monday.

In August, a local man surnamed Zhu living in Pudong New Area's Huinan county brought 5,000 yuan in cash to shop at a local wet market. However, after shopping he found the cash had disappeared.

From surveillance footage, police found that Zhu had been pick-pocketed. On August 27, Pudong police caught the four suspects at another wet market.

The gang of thieves had a clear division of labor, with one responsible for picking the pockets of customers, one standing lookout and others driving the getaway vehicles. The gang were responsible for a rash of wet market thefts in different districts.
