The Supreme People's Procuratorate of China announced on Monday that it has launched an investigation into the former assistant chairman of the China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) for allegedly taking bribes.

Yang Jiacai was removed from his position at the CBRC in May after the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, China's top anti-graft body, launched an investigation into him for alleged violation of Party rules. Yang was kicked out of the Party in August.
