Sushi Ichi, a Shanghai-based restaurant, denied accusations of copying a Michelin one-starred restaurant in Japan, Xinmin Evening News reported.

The Japanese restaurant, Ginza Sushi-Ichi, published a notice on its website accusing the Shanghai establishment of using its name. "Kindly note that there are restaurants in Shanghai and Nanjing using our name Sushi Ichi. We would like to highlight that they are not under our management nor are they related to our restaurants," said the notice.

The founder of the Shanghai restaurant, surnamed Guo, denied the accusation, stressing that Sushi Ichi is a legally registered brand in China. She added that Sushi Ichi in Shanghai has sent a letter from their lawyer to the Japanese restaurant.
