The legendary idyllic village of Taohuayuan, or the Peach Blossom Spring, is widely known to both ancient scholars and modern people through a poem written by Tao Yuanming (365-427), a late Eastern Jin Dynasty (317-420) poet.

On Saturday, the Right Bank Art Center in Changde, Central China's Hunan Province, and Art Intervention kicked off The Wonderland New Art Exhibition, which features artworks from Chinese artists Xu Bing, Sui Jianguo, Su Xinping, Yu Fan and Yang Hongwei.

The center is the exhibition's third stop after Hong Kong and Beijing.

One highlight of the exhibition is the New English Calligraphy, a calligraphy work created by Xu Bing in 2013 that has previously been showcased at the Victoria and Albert Museum in Britain.

Inspired by Tao's poem, the work features writing that is very similar to traditional Chinese characters at first glance, but are in fact English letters drawn in the style of Chinese calligraphy.

The exhibition will run until December 9.

The center also announced a residence project for international artists.
