A 53-year-old woman was detained after she pulled a knife on police during a traffic stop in East China's Jiangsu Province on Tuesday.

Police in the city of Nantong initially stopped the woman, surnamed Wang, for running a red light on her e-bike.

In a video taken at the scene, the woman can be heard speaking unintelligibly. She then refuses to talk with officers.

Officers said they told her she was unfit to be operating a vehicle.

The situation escalated. Wang drew a fruit knife and waved it at officers.

"We told her to calm down but she wouldn't listen," said Wang Peng, a traffic police officer at the scene.

Officers quickly disarmed Wang. An officer suffered a minor injury on his right hand in the scuffle. She then lay on the ground and refused to move.

Wang was charged with obstruction of justice. She is being held in police detention.
