A 58-year-old woman in Wuhan was detained Tuesday for allegedly robbing an unconscious woman of her mobile phone after she passed out on a subway and then demanding 800 yuan ($125) ransom for it, police said.

The victim, surnamed Xue, who suffers from hypoglycemia, fainted while riding the city's Subway Line 2 on September 4.

Xue first approached Wuhan subway authorities after finding her phone and ID missing from her bag.

Xue said she called her cell  many times. Eventually a woman, who police said is surnamed Zhang, answered and demanded 800 yuan for the phone's return.

Unable to reach an agreement, Xue reported the case to local police on Monday.

After reviewing the subway's surveillance footage, officers at Jiedaokou Police Station, Guidao Branch identified Zhang as the suspect.

Zhang was arrested at her home on Tuesday. The phone and ID were recovered from the suspect. She will serve seven days in detention for the crime, police said.
