Two Vietnamese men under death sentence were arrested by police six days after escaping from a prison in Vietnam's Hanoi, the country's Police General Department announced on Sunday.

Nguyen Van Tinh, 28, from Hanoi, who in April received death sentence for the charge of drug trafficking, was detained in a jungle in northern Hoa Binh province on Sunday morning.

Several hours earlier, Le Van Tho, 37, from northern Hai Duong province, who in May was sentenced to death for the charges of drug trafficking, murder and swindling for appropriation of assets, was arrested when he was sitting in a taxi in Hai Duong.

On the rainy Sept. 11 morning, Tho and Tinh broke their shackles and a hole in the wall of their cell, climbed to a watchtower, and used a rope to swing over a 3-meter fence to escape from T16 Detention Center in the rural district of Thanh Oai.

Some staff of the detention center have been accused of negligence.
