The Migu Run Skyrunner World Series and Yumen International Trail Running Race took place on Devil's Ridge in the southernmost region of the Gobi Desert, near Yumen City, Gansu Province on September 9. Nearly 800 runners from dozens of countries and regions participated in the event.

The competition was made up of a 60- and a 30-kilometer run for men and women. Chinese runner Qi Min came in first in the 60-kilometer race for men, and Francesca Canepa from Italy won women's race. The highlight of the event was its spectacular mountainous route, which showcased the rugged beauty of the area.

"The experience was really good, very different, awesome landscapes, challenging terrain, a nice start, very technical on the ridges - a great experience overall," commented Canepa after the race.

The Danxia landform, sand canyons and an inactive volcano made up the landscape along the route. Apart from the beautiful scenery, participants were invited to get a taste of local life by sampling delicacies.

Deputy mayor of Yumen Liu Xueliang said that the competition has a very positive impact on the community in terms of raising people's interest in outdoor activities and boosting sports development in the region.

"The sponsors and game organizers offered both funds and experience without which the race would not have been possible," said Liu, adding that the competition helped to promote Yumen and was a win-win deal for all sides.

The Migu Run Devil's Ridge and Yumen International Trail Running Race also conducted an activity with a social interest program named Blue Dream. The China Mobile Charity Foundation also participated in the activity.
