The launch ceremony of the 2017-18 England-Shanghai Mathematics Teacher Exchange Project was held at Shanghai Normal University Monday, reported Monday. Britain sent 70 teachers to Shanghai for two weeks; Shanghai will send 34 and 36 primary school math teachers to Britain in November 2017 and January 2018, respectively.

For this cultural exchange, China and Britain will swap mathematical lessons, theoretical research, immersion teaching techniques, classroom simulations, field visits and experience sharing. Shanghai math teachers have been recognized globally for their abilities and success techniques.

Since the participation in the PISA (The Programme for International Student Assessment) test in Shanghai in 2009, the global impact of Shanghai's basic education has been growing. According to preliminary results of the third party evaluation of the 2014 exchange activities by Sheffield Hallam University, most of the 48 schools participating in the first round of this program had varying degrees of success after a visit by the Shanghai teachers.
