‘Shanghai Craftsmen’ selected for 2017

The Shanghai Federation of Trade Unions plans to select 1,000 "Shanghai Craftsmen" in order to build up a contingent of highly skilled personnel who will speed up the construction of Shanghai science and technology innovation center and implement the "Made in China 2025" requirements.

On Tuesday, 94 craftsmen for 2017 were officially announced, thepaper.cn reported. This year, the average age of the craftsmen was 46, three years younger than last year. The number of craftsmen from the grass-roots production line increased sharply. There are 69 ordinary frontline staff, accounting for 73 percent of the total, 31 more than last year. In terms of gender, 10 women account for 11 percent of the total; 84 men account for 89 percent.
