The teacher of a local primary school asked her students to use plastic to cover their textbooks. But a parent surnamed Bai had his own frugal way of covering his child's book by using pages from an old calendar. The teacher gave Bai's son a failing grade for the unique book cover on the grounds that he failed to follow the teacher's instructions, Shanghai Morning Post reported Thursday. "If all the students' books have uniform covers, they will leave a good impression on teachers," a primary school teacher surnamed Wang explained.
