5.9-magnitude quake hits off Hachinohe, Japan -- USGS

An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale jolted southeast Hachinohe, Japan, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said on Tuesday.

The epicenter, with a depth of 32.41 km, was initially determined to be at 40.3434 degrees north latitude and 142.3865 degrees east longitude.
