China's new person in charge of fighting graft on Sunday called on fellow members of the Communist Party of China's (CPC) Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) to push for a "sweeping victory" in the fight against corruption.

In addressing the first meeting of the Standing Committee of the 19th CCDI, its secretary, Zhao Leji, said that the Party's graft busters need to follow Xi Jinping's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in their work, the Xinhua News Agency reported.

Zhao, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said that it was the Party's primary task to apply the spirit of the just-concluded 19th CPC National Congress, which adopted Xi Jinping Thought as a new component of the Party's guide.

Members of the CCDI Standing Committee need to uphold the Party leadership along with the good practices and experience of their predecessors, to ensure a sweeping victory over corruption, Zhao said.

They also need to improve the Party's and the nation's supervisory system and make a greater effort to see that officials do not dare to be corrupt, and to institutionalize the legal framework that makes corruption impossible, and provide a moral compass for officials so that they won't want to be corrupt, Zhu concluded.
