Chinese President Xi Jinping said Monday that the country is willing to cooperate with the United States to achieve mutual benefits, ahead of US President Donald Trump's planned visit to China from November 8 to 10.

Xi made the remarks during a meeting with members of the advisory board of Tsinghua University's School of Economics and Management at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

He expressed optimism over China-US ties, adding that China will continue to improve economic performance through innovation, supply-side reform and cultivation of professionals.

China is a contributor to economic globalization and its opening-up means win-win cooperation for the world, Xi stressed. He pledged to further open up China's economy for high-quality growth.

Attending the meeting were former US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and senior executives of high-tech companies such as Apple, Facebook and Blackstone. They were impressed by China's achievements in economic growth and poverty reduction as well as its efforts to promote innovation-driven development.
