Celebrities spreading 19th Party Congress spirit

Chinese celebrities have recently joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in spreading the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress.

A teen idol, Wang Junkai, who is a member of the popular Chinese boy band TFboys, published an article in Guangming Daily on Wednesday to explain how he sees the "cultural confidence" mentioned in the 19th National Congress report and said he would use his work to serve the people.

Wang is also a freshman at the Beijing Film Academy's Performance Institute and has more than 30 million followers on Sina Weibo.

The 18-year-old star said he was impressed by the efforts made by many people in the entertainment industry in trying to support the Chinese dream. He noted that "General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping said in the 19th National Congress report that 'without full confidence in our culture, without a rich and prosperous culture, the Chinese nation will not be able to rejuvenate itself.'"

A Chinese actress, Guan Xiaotong, who is 20, joined the promotional activities at People's Daily on November 3, where she spoke about ideology and politics. She said that she hoped to influence the public by spreading positive energy, People's Daily online reported.

"As a person working in the movie industry, I hope to give youth the faith and dream in my future work. I shall remain true to the original aspiration, and keep the mission firmly in mind," Guan said. She has 20 million followers on Sina Weibo.

Many people who use Sina Weibo have welcomed the optimism in the articles of young celebrities and have praised them as "positive youth."

"Young celebrities, who have more influence on the public, spread the ideology by using themselves as living examples to better motivate young people," Su Wei, a professor at the CPC Chongqing Committee's Party School, told the Global Times.

Their speaking out in public about the CPC's ideology means people welcome and recognize the CPC's efforts in promoting the cultural industries, Su said, adding that, their participating in the promotion activities reflects the saying "from the public, to the public."
