"I didn't know my roommate had cash in her purse, and I didn't go out. But I did go to the bank one hour before she came back home."

So said a woman surnamed Yang, who stole 10,000 yuan ($1,512) on November 28 from her roommate, a woman surnamed Zheng. She needed money to pay her credit card debt, so she stole Zheng's money. When Zheng asked her about the money she said she didn't know anything and suggested that Zheng call the police. After the police arrived, Yang voluntarily got involved by helping analyze the case. However, the police found her alibi contradictive. Also, the police found that Yang deposited 9,700 yuan in her bank account and then transferred it to a credit card. Yang then confessed that it was her who stole the money. Yang has been detained for the crime of theft. (Source: Beijing Evening News)
