Soaring employment and salary for grads: survey

Over 96 percent of surveyed 2017 university graduates in Shanghai have already signed job contracts, with the average monthly salary rising to 5,386 yuan ($814), thepaper.cn reported Thursday.

According to the report, the average monthly salary has increased this year by 7.9 percent compared with the average monthly salary of 4,990 yuan for the 2016 class of graduates.

Over 62 percent of graduates surveyed said that their biggest concern is career development, followed by salary and welfare.

Nearly 49 percent said that the biggest difficulty in their job hunt was their own "lack of experience," 29.8 percent said "their ability is out of character with the requirements of the employers," and 26 percent said they lack "connections."
