China self-built passenger jet C919 finished its first remote ferry flight from Shanghai to Xi'an last month,the fifth trial flight for C919 since its first flying this May. The journey lasted about 3 hours at a cruise speed of 280 Knots, keeping the cruising altitude as high as 7800m.

Now, C919 has reached the key stage before starting its route, developmental fly test and getting Airworthiness Certificates.

C919, COMAC C919, based on the newest international airworthiness standards, is the first self-built passenger jet in the China. It means that China has the ability of R&D to provide trunk airliners in the world civil aircraft market, especially in its domestic market which is predicted to be the world biggest and the most significant.

Though going behind aircraft-building countries like USA, Canada and Brazil, China is ambitious enough. The initial letter C can tell that COMAC, the C919 manufacturer, will run neck to neck with Airbus and Boeing (ABC) one day, even the latter two, 'A' and 'B' company have been sharing more than 66% of the world aviation market for long time.

To fulfill this dream, C919 is built with the world most advanced equipment and technologies, meeting the needs of the global aviation market in mid-range trunk aircrafts, while its competing products Boeing 737 MAX and Airbus A320 NEO are built years ago. Moreover, the Belt and Road initiative provides orders from those nations alongside.

Up to now, there are 785 orders of jets from 27 clients all over the world. A demand for this kind of passenger jets is 2300-2700 in China, while C919 will share more than half of the market in the future. Aviation Week predicts that the COMAC will share the global market with those well-known overseas aircraft makers.

C919 occured after the transporter Y-20 and amphibious aircraft AG600, which highlights the nation' strength of R&D and system integration in the whole industry chain of China. This is not easy.

The composite material in making the body, for instance, takes 15% of the bulk composition, reducing more than 7% of the whole weight, and is regarded as the milestone of China material science and technology.

But back to the beginning, when determining the standard data of material performance, the researchers spent 4 years in testing, combining with the first-line engineering experience. And the parameters were defined based on the design/production requirements by the material engineers. Now, the composite material based on the standard has been used for making the primary/secondary load-carrying structure and verified by the world newest airworthiness compliance.

Another story happened in the Flight Test Centre. Since the late 2016, captain Jun Cai and his team kept working more than 10 hours every day, doing flight simulation, reviewing flight data and making flight manuals with the engineers.

Besides, they took detailed notes of incidents response and system operation during flying C919.

Now, we can see the second jet C919 is preparing its first flying at the end of this year. And there will be 6 jets taking off in Yanliang, Xi'an in the following years.

Then, in 2020, we are looking forward to C919 starting its route.

In the future, nationalization of C919 will rise from 60% to 100% by component localizing and upgrading. CR929 is on the way, confronting the Boeing 787 and Airbus A350. Moreover, the fancy flight LING QUE, driverless, efficient, safety and dexterity, generating a new conception of civil aircraft design. By 2035, China will surpass the US becoming the largest civil aviation market in the world. Self-built jet C919, is strengthening aviation industry of China.
