Newly opened Guangfulin Cultural Relics Park drew over 22,800 visits during the holiday weekend, Shanghai Observer reported Tuesday.

Opened on last Thursday, it is the sixth countryside park in Shanghai and the smallest so far. Located in Songjiang district, the park showcases ancient Shanghainese civilization. It was built next to the Guangfulin archeology site, which became known to the public after farmers in the late 1950s accidentally discovered relics dating back some 4,000 years.

The park covers an area of 4.25 square meters and is themed around natural scenery and recreational activities, featuring camping and fishing.

Part of the park is still under construction; only 3.5 square meters have been opened to the public. The park is free. Visitors can make appointments on its official WeChat account or simply show up with their ID card.
