Shared bikes lead Shanghai complaints

According to the Shanghai Consumer Council, in 2017 it accepted and handled 156,119 consumer complaints, up 27 percent from 2016. Among them, shared bikes were the biggest focus, the Xinhua News Agency reported Tuesday.

The council dealt with 7,978 complaints concerning shared bikes, 40 times higher than in 2016. Those complaints were mainly about deposit refund delays and billing system malfunctions.

Online travel booking was another major complaint. In 2017, the council accepted 6,029 cases regarding poor travel service, 54 percent higher than 2016. Problems primarily involved the severe decrease in standards in local hotel accommodations.

Furthermore, online promotional scams, invalid prepaid cards or unaccepted coupons and bad delivery service also continue to upset local consumers.
