After bidding farewell to last week's brief yet heavy snowfall that turned Shanghai into a rare winter wonderland, in recent days the city has been suffering from heavy pollution. PM 2.5 particles have replaced snowflakes, with Shanghai's air quality index exceeding AQI 200 (indicating heavy pollution) at 7 am Thursday. Children, senior citizens and anyone allergic to pollution are advised to stay indoors. According to weather forecasters, yet another cold front is set to arrive Saturday.
